| BUTTERFLY RELEASE CEREMONY |
| Based on a Native American Legend, The Butterfly Release ceremony is a lovely way to conclude your wedding ceremony. Below is the traditional Native American reading and some excellent resources to obtain your wedding butterflies. |
BUTTERFLY RELEASE CEREMONY According to a Native American Legend... If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly cannot reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish. So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted. |

Some Resources for Your Wedding Butterflies: |
ON A SIDE NOTE: Keep the time of year and weather in mind when planning a butterfly release ceremony. I have performed a number of butterfly release ceremonies, and it can really be a beautiful conclusion to your ceremony. However, I have discovered that if the weather is too cold, for instance during the winter months outside, the butterflies will remain in their deep sleep state and may not fly at all. :( |
